Rise And Be Healed

A Christian’s Guide To Understanding Divine Healing

Unlocking the Power of Divine Healing

Have you ever wondered, “Does Divine Healing still happen today?”

In this transformative book, we explore the profound truth that divine healing is an essential aspect of the Gospel. Throughout biblical history, the ministry of Jesus and the apostles showcases how healing was a vital witness to His divine mission.

Divine healing is not just a historical event; it represents a supernatural act by God that addresses physical, emotional, and spiritual ailments. It is healing that transcends human ability, brought forth through Jesus and the fervent prayers of His followers. Many view it as the answer to their deepest prayers for health and restoration, but it is so much more—a precious gift from God, delivered through the sacrifice of His Son.

As the prophet Isaiah beautifully states, “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

In RISE AND BE HEALED, you will discover:

  • The essential “What Abouts” of Divine Healing

  • The significance of the events at the Cross
  • The revelation of God’s healing plan through Jesus
  • The New Testament’s outline of God’s provision for healing

From Genesis to Revelation, divine healing is woven throughout the Scriptures. While we may not witness it as the early Christians did, divine healing is still very much alive today. Experience the miraculous healing made possible through the blood of Christ and witness the transformation it brings to lives.

Here are some common misconceptions about divine healing:

Healing is Guaranteed for Everyone: Many believe that if someone has enough faith, they will always receive healing. However, divine healing is not guaranteed for every individual in every situation.

Sickness is Always a Result of Sin: Some people think that illness is a direct punishment for personal sin. While sin can affect our lives, not all sickness is a result of individual wrongdoing.

God Only Heals in Certain Cases: There’s a misconception that divine healing is limited to specific illnesses or conditions. In reality, divine healing can encompass physical, emotional, and spiritual issues.

Healing is Always Instantaneous: Many expect healing to occur immediately. However, divine healing can happen gradually, and some may experience healing over time or in different forms.

Doctors and Medicine are Unnecessary: Some believe that relying on medical professionals shows a lack of faith in God’s healing power. In truth, many view medicine as a tool God can use in the healing process.

Healing is No Longer Relevant Today: Some people think that divine healing was only relevant in biblical times. However, many believers testify to experiencing divine healing in contemporary contexts.

Faith Healing Means Ignoring Medical Advice: There’s a misconception that faith healing opposes medical treatment. Many Christians believe in the harmony of faith and medicine working together for healing.

Divine Healing is Only for the Spiritually Gifted: Some think that only certain individuals, like pastors or healers, can pray for healing. However, believers are encouraged to pray for one another, as healing can occur through anyone with faith.

Healing is a Reward for Good Behavior: Some believe that only those who live a perfect life receive healing. Divine healing is a gift of grace, not a reward for righteousness.

The “What Abouts” in Divine Healing

Next to the subject of the Holy Spirit and his gifts there is no other subject that causes more division in the body of Christ than divine healing.  Most in God’s church today want to believe that God can heal, they just don’t believe he still heals in our modern day of medicine.  It’s interesting that when Jesus walked the earth many people believes that he heals people, but he doesn’t save.  Today more people believe that he saves but they don’t believe that he still heals.

I personally believe that God wants his children to be healthy.  But at the same time, I also believe that God will not heal anybody who is not personally sanctifying their life.  As we study the word of God and allow it to separate the soul from the sprit when that word is allowed to get in and heal the individual.  Look at this verse.

2 Corinthians chapter 7:1 (NKJV)1Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

So, as we allow God’s word to sanctify our lives, we become more whole in God’s kingdom and that allows the healing power of his word to touch our lives.  Please keep an open mind as we study in the next few chapters and allow the word to cleanse you of impure thoughts, intents, motives or anything that may be blocking healing from coming your way.  Let’s let the promise of John chapter 8 be our guide.

John 8:32 (NKJV) 32And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Let the knowledge of the truth of God’s word set us free from all religious traditions. We also must be free from wrong thinking, and of course free from sickness and disease that is trying to attach to each other our bodies.

Look at some questions that we really need to be answer first.

First…Isn’t God sovereign when it comes to healing and health…?  Yes, I want to state right now that I believe that God is absolutely sovereign when it comes to healing and he chooses who to heal and who not to heal.  The devil is not stopping you from healing because he doesn’t have the authority of almighty God.  I’ve even heard of atheists that do not believe in God getting healed by the gifts of the Spirit at healing crusades and afterwards they are asked if they believe in God now and their answer is still no.

In the scriptures Jesus would have had to walk past the man at the gate called beautiful many times without healing him.  He went to Bethesda that was a hospital full of sick people and healed only one man and left leaving the rest of them to their pain.  Yes, God is sovereign.  But although God is sovereign, I do not believe that all healing occurs as a sovereign act of God.  I believe that the scripture plainly points out that any believer can initiate their own healing process by faith.  But most people don’t believe that and want to claim that only healing comes by the sovereignty of God.

Here’s an erroneous train of thought that has crept into the modern church world today.

“I have to accept anything that comes into in my life and that includes any sicknesses that comes my way whether it be good or bad because God has already filtered out everything that he wants out of my life.  And if it happens to me, it must be God’s will for me to be sick for, he has approved of it.

Therefore, when believers don’t get healed from a sickness, they just accept that it is God’s will for them to go to the doctor and get some kind of treatment assuming that it is God’s will for them to be sick.  My question is if it is God’s will for you to be sick why are you going to the doctor to get well?  Friends the bible doesn’t teach that theology.  Yes, we trust God for our provincial care, and nothing happens to us without his knowledge, but that still doesn’t mean it is his will for us to be sick.  God never performs sovereign acts that are contrary to his written word.

Many times, I’ve heard people pray; “Lord heal me if it be thy will.”  That’s just an out for the sovereignty of God, just in case they don’t get healed.  After all, maybe God wants me to be sick for some divine purpose.  In the next few chapters, we are going to study just what is the will of God for our lives as it pertains to healing.  Look at Deuteronomy 30:19

Deuteronomy 30:19 (NKJV) 19I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you, life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore, choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.

In the entirety of the bible God always gives man the opportunity to choose. After all we have free will and are free moral agents. If everything was just the sovereignty of God, we would have no choice in the matter.  According to this verse God has given man two choices.  Life or death, blessing or cursing and if you choose life, you and your descendants shall live.  And who is the witness?  God Himself!  Friends God never violates free will.  You can choose to be sick, or you can choose to be healed.  It’s that simple.
